Description
I took this photo, captivated by this potable water spigot coming out of the mouth of Neptune, the Roman sea god. Cyclists, joggers and their pets refresh themselves here as they pass by.. It is stone carved in the wall of an ancient church in the medieval cobblestone city of Modena in the emilla-romangna region of Italy. Modena was colonized by Roman in b.c.e.183. The Romans named their water god "Neptune" after the mythological Greek god of the sea "Poseidon".
