These exquisite design intricasies are of just one of six palaces in the Alhambra. Originally constructed as a small fortress on Roman ruins in 899, it was built Into palaces by the conquering Moors. After the Christian Reconquista in 1492, it became the royal palace of Ferdinand and Isabella under the Spanish throne. Through all the centuries of changes and modifications, The Alhambra is a fine tribute to Muslim, Jewish and Christian architecture and is a UNESCO heititage site.
